This exhibition at the Galerie der Stadt Wels is dedicated to the remarkable wood-fired ceramics and subtle paintings of Anna Steinhäusler. [...] In the exhibition rooms, we encounter expressive, figurative representations of people and nature. The sensitively designed figures, busts, and masks made of clay, with their surfaces refined by wood firing, combine artistic power and a force of nature that completes the sculptures and at the same time opens them up to diversity. The title EINANDER (Each Other) sums up the intention behind the individual sculptures and paintings as well as their presentation as a whole: “One” and the “other” enter into a relationship with each other. A reciprocal relationship arises that inextricably conditions both. In her works, Anna Steinhäusler portrays networks of relationships that reveal the interpersonal relationship as well as the irrevocable relationship between humans and nature, and which tell of the importance of living relationships as the basis for mutual survival.
