Khnum – First international Forum for Ceramics and Sculpture, Sheeni (General Company for Ceramic & Porcelain products), Kairo, Egypt

The symposium took place the first time at the traditional ceramics and porcelain factory 'Sheeni'. International artists were invited to create new forms that would go beyond the factory’s usual production. To bring this innovative approach to life, the artists were able to make use of the entire industrial infrastructure. They had access to porcelain in liquid and plastic form, a wide selection of plaster molds, as well as leather-hard and fired porcelain products, and large industrial electric kilns to bring their ideas to life. At the end of the symposium the resulting works were presented in the factory.
